PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Local crime fighters are calling on residents to support a blanket drive to assist those who suffer as the temperatures start to drop.
Coastal Hire Plettenberg Bay is currently busy with a blanket drive to "warm those in need" and Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) is joining the cause.
PBCPA operations head Otto Olivier said the association was founded in 2010 to assist combatting crime in Bitou.
"Our founding vision and goals were, and still are, to work as a joint fortified security, emergency and support force with all security and emergency stakeholders to the betterment of all in Bitou," Olivier said.
One of the PBCPA's fundamental goals is community outreach.
"It is very close to our hearts and we take pride assisting fundraisers, anti-drug campaigns at schools and in communities, safety awareness talks at schools, creating safety or security awareness through social media, K9 demonstrations in the community and various other activities."
Olivier added that winter is on the doorstep and there are many people who need a helping hand to keep warm during the ice-cold months ahead.
"We strongly support Coastal Hire's wonderful blanket drive. If you do not use it, lose it to someone that desperately needs it."
Blankets can be old or new and can be dropped off at Coastal Hire Plettenberg Bay on Piesang Valley Road before 31 May. For more information, phone 044 533 2205.
