KNYSNA NEWS - Two wildfires have been reignited and are still active, the latest update for the Bitou area from the Garden Route District Municipality said.
“The prevailing berg winds the last 12 hours ignited two of the wildfires.
“A reconnaissance flight will be undertaken at 10:00 to determine the extent of the spread of the fires.
The reconnaissance flight is also expected to determine the “next cause of action, as well as nearest exposures”.
No infrastructure is under immediate threat.
Earlier some rain had brought respite but did not douse the smouldering fires completely.
Entities involved include landowners, South African Nation Parks, Mountain-to-Ocean Forestry, Southern Cape Fire Protection Association and the Garden Route District Municipality.
