GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Yesterday 5 February, police arrested three suspects just outside Knysna for illegal possession of abalone.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, officers from the Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Unit received information about a Ford Focus with a CY registration that was en route to Cape Town with a consignment of abalone on board.
After receiving word of the vehicle outside Kwanokuthula, police responded, but not before the vehicle sped off in the direction of Knysna and a high-speed vehicle chase ensued.
The vehicle was brought to a halt just outside Knysna and after a search of the vehicle, bags of abalone worth R46 000 were seized and three suspects were arrested.
The suspects will appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrates’ court on Monday, 8 February 2021 on the mentioned charge.
