PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Police and other Bitou crime fighters prevented an early-morning armed robbery from being carried out at a popular shopping centre in Plettenberg Bay on Sunday 10 September.
Four suspects were arrested and a vehicle, that had been hijacked in Delft, Cape Town, was recovered.
It is believed that the suspects attempted to carry out the robbery at the Market Square Shopping Centre in Beacon Way, Plettenberg Bay, using fake weapons.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, the arrests were made at about 06:00 on Sunday morning.
"The four suspects, three from Cape Town and one local, aged between 30 and 44, remain in police custody. They are facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery as well as possession of stolen property and will appear in court once charged. More charges could be added as the investigation unfolds," Spies said.
