KNYNSA NEWS - In yesterday’s closely contested by- election in Ward 3, ANC candidate Lukhanyiso Nohana secured a narrow victory with 1 074 votes - just 31 votes ahead of the Patriotic Alliance’s Beauty Charlie, who received 1 043 votes.
The Land Party and the AUF trailed far behind with 15 and 14 votes respectively.
Ward 3, which includes the Nekkies area, was previously held by Speaker Mncedisi Skosana.
His tenure ended after he was removed from office by Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell, following an investigation into councillor conduct related to illegal payments to political appointees.
The DA, EFF, and KIM did not participate in the by-election.
