Murder suspect Lulama Candani appeared in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrates Court again on Thursday, March 26 after several postponements over recent weeks.
His legal team, however, asked that Candani be admitted to the hospital on April 10 this year. He will also undergo an independent evaluation by experts to be identified by the State.
The 18-year-old Bossiegif resident is accused of murdering the little girl last year. He allegedly slit her throat and hid her body in dense bushes just a few metres from her home.
Sesona went missing on Sunday, December 7 after playing with friends near Candani’s home. When she did not return by 18:00 that evening her mother went searching for her, but could not find her. Local street committees and later police also joined in the search, but efforts yielded no results.
A day later Candani was also reported missing, but he later handed himself over to police in Knysna on December 9 and pointed out where the body was hidden.
