KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - The results have rolled in for Knysna and Bitou municipalities following the local government elections that were held on Monday 1 November, and both municipalities have ended up in hung councils one again.
In Bitou, courtesy of three ward victories and two proportional representation (PR) seats, the DA has won five council seats. The ANC also won three wards, but only got one PR seat, bringing their total to four seats.
The Plett Democratic Congress snatched Ward 4 from the DA to earn a ward councillor seat. The Active United Front, Patriotic Alliance (PA), and Ikwezi Political Movement each has one PR seat.
In Knysna the DA won five wards and earned a further three PR seats to bring their total to eight council seats. The ANC won more wards with six victories, but only got a further one PR seat to bring their total to seven seats.
First-time LGE contesters Knysna Independent Movement as well as the PA won two PR seats. The rest of council is made up by one PR seat each for the PBI and the EFF.
