KNYSNA NEWS - Oakhill School hosted its annual Interact Fashion Show and SRC Food Evening recently, drawing a large crowd of students, parents and staff for an event that combined global cuisine, student-led fashion, and community spirit - all in support of local outreach initiatives.
Held in the Oakhill College Quad, the evening began with the SRC Food Evening, offering a range of international dishes prepared and served by learners from Grades 8 to 12.
Each grade represented a different country through themed food stalls, decor and dress.
Grade 8 learners showcased French cuisine with croissants, pastries, and French onion soup, complete with mime artists to add flair. Grade 9s brought an American theme to life, offering gourmet hot dogs and entertainment by students dressed as cheerleaders and US presidents.
The Grade 10s' Italian stall featured creamy Alfredo and Carbonara pasta, while Grade 11 embraced South African favourites such as boerewors rolls, potato salad and roosterkoek, in celebration of local heritage and rugby culture.
The evening concluded with a dessert table by the matrics, who served an array of sweet treats.
Following the food festivities, the spotlight turned to the Interact Fashion Show.
This year's theme, "A Night at the Oscars", saw students from Grades 10 to 12 model a range of stylish outfits sourced from local stores including Kiki's, Two on Toast, Salt, and BlueBird Thrift Clothing.
Matric learners Kay-Lane Cloete and Aiden Bruwer hosted the show, guiding the audience through a lively programme of fashion and entertainment. Highlights included group dances by the matric boys and girls, earning enthusiastic applause.
Funds raised from the evening will support various Interact outreach projects throughout the coming year.
