KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Cavaliers made a confident start to the second half of the club cricket season, securing maximum points with a four-wicket victory over Union Stars II as action resumed on Saturday 10 January following the holiday break.
Playing at Loerie Park, the Cavaliers chased down a modest target in just 31.2 overs to underline their intent, highlighting a weekend of competitive, low-scoring encounters across the region.
Elsewhere, the opening round after the break produced a major upset at the Bridgton Sportsgrounds in Oudtshoorn, where a struggling George side stunned defending champions Union Stars I by nine runs on a dry, spin-friendly surface. Sussex maintained their grip at the top of the log with a bonus-point win over Harlequins Forces.
Pacaltsdorp United strengthened their title challenge with a dominant derby victory against New Dawn Park.
Spin bowlers were the dominant force throughout the weekend, shaping the outcome of several tightly contested matches as teams adjusted to challenging post-break conditions.
