PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The festive season is upon us and we are ready to welcome visitors to our beautiful town.
Bitou is renowned for its amazingly scenic beauty and we now boast six Blue Flag-accredited beaches.
Our residents are a peaceful and friendly people and the spirit of Ubuntu is what makes us a unique community.
We welcome our visitors who have made our town their destination of choice and we want you to enjoy all our tourism attractions to recharge your batteries and get ready for 2020.
As we enter this festive period we want you to remember that this is a time for showing love and compassion. This is a time to open our hearts, give and reach out to those less fortunate. It is also time to reflect and take stock of the year and set new resolutions and goals. This is indeed a time to celebrate with our loved ones and enjoy our diverse family traditions.
Roads become very busy and fatalities due to road accidents increase rapidly during this period. I want to urge all citizens to be careful, obey the rules of the road and please do not drink and drive. Keep your cellphones out of your hands while driving as texting has become another major killer on our roads.
All of us should respect the Arrive Alive campaign. Apart from road safety we urge everyone to be cautious and be safe all the time. Our crime statistics are generally very low, but we need to be aware that criminals are out there looking for the slightest opportunity to catch a victim.
We come out of a very challenging year as the Bitou Municipality. However, despite the many challenges we faced, we can say we came out stronger and more determined to deliver quality services to the people from our communities.
On behalf of the entire Bitou council, the municipal manager, advocate Lonwabo Ngoqo, all the officials, I wish all our residents, visitors and stakeholders a merry Christmas. We hope that the new year is a year laden with many opportunities for prosperity and success.
Season greetings
