KNYSNA NEWS - The reason why I am a biker junkie is because I love riding my bike. Every time I get on my bike it gives me a ride. Near or far, the thrill is always there. It just gets better and is never enough.
Another biker who never has enough of bikes here in Knysna is on Thesen Island at The Motorcycle Room (www.the motorcycleroom.co.za).
“This special place is all about great memories about the bikes we had and rode growing up, the bikes we haven't seen in years, and the bikes we miss," says Colin Stunden.
"The collection includes old classic, vintage endure bikes, motocross and supervises, and a wide variety of customs too – but the emphasis is definitely on the tough little fifties of our schoolboy days," he says.
"This special place is all about great memories and old friends that we wish we had never sold," Colin continues.
"I hope those memories come back to you while you are here. This is a living creatures collection. These bikes get ridden.
"So if one or two are dirty, it's because I haven’t had time to wash them yet. If it is in very bad condition, it's waiting to be restored.
All over the world BMW's GS duel purpose machines reign supreme. Only in Knysna, a GS Bomber on steroids!
"The collection grows by the day, and is over a hundred already, and I am forever hunting for the next barn find!
"So if your old friend is not here, keep coming back – who knows, I may just find it."
Remember the Gn 250 Suzuki delivery kamakazi bikes? Not anymore for this high-end custom job done by local specialist known as the Copper Bomber. The Caltex sign is older than Bomber and nearly didn't make it out of the recycle centre.
An interesting variety of KTM bikes on display among other oldie Scramblers and weird and wonderful creations makes this a worthwhile visit.
Every day in the Garden Route is a pleasure to go for a ride.
Get to Sedgefield side to Swartvlei on 28 October for a Beer Fest 2017 hosted by The Syndicate MC Garden Route at the camping ground.
Entry is R90 (metal badge included). Cars and campers allowed at R50 each.
Join them for a laid-back fun-filled day of bikes and biking in the heart of the valley.
Upcoming in November is The Toy Run, but more of that later.
