GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - Two cold fronts will make landfall on Thursday morning, 23 June, bringing rainfall amounts of 15-20mm over the south-western parts of the Western Cape, spreading along the south coast and Klein Karoo by the afternoon.
The bulk of the rain is expected over the eastern parts of the South Coast from the afternoon into Friday morning where rainfall accumulations can reach 20-40mm over 36 hours. There is uncertainty in terms of the rainfall amounts due to the differing placement of the weather system.
The situation is being monitored closely and updates will be given when necessary.
Impacts
Localised flooding of susceptible informal settlements and roads are expected.
The combination of slippery roads, reduced visibility and possible flooding of roads can lead to traffic delays on major roads and motor vehicle accidents, especially over the Cape Metropole on Thursday morning, but over the Garden Route from the afternoon into Friday morning.
The mentioned impacts are expected over the South Coast and Klein Karoo from Thursday afternoon into Friday.
