Sergeant Chris Spies, spokesperson for the Knysna Police, said that a 44-year-old suspect was arrested after he allegedly used fake bank notes to purchase items at two businesses in the central business district on Thursday, January 15.
Spies said: "We want to urge businesses and the public to carefully check their bank notes following this arrest.
Counterfeit R100 notes were also in circulation during 2014. The public are requested to immediately report incidents where fake bank notes are exchanged to the police."
