KNYSNA NEWS - Renowned painter and sculptor Norman O'Flynn opened his first solo exhibition in Knysna, titled Rising Tide, at Knysna Fine Art on Saturday 7 October.
O'Flynn, who is originally from Cape Town and recently relocated to Oudtshoorn, has showcased his work in numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions, residencies, and workshops worldwide.
His interdisciplinary approach and cross-cultural collaborations have resulted in a visually distinctive language, using recognisable imagery that is accessible to a wide audience.
O'Flynn uses a technique called reverse glass painting, where he paints on the back of glass and then places the painting on an abstract background to create a three-dimensional effect.
His inspiration comes from all over and he aims to find ways to document what's happening around him in an interesting way.
Bold, bright colours capture the viewer's attention while the works combine pop art references with deeper meaning. The exhibition will be open until 31 October.
O' Flynn uses a technique known as reverse glass painting, which achieves a three-dimensional look and feel to flat surfaces.
The Norman O' Flynn exhibition can be viewed at Knysna Fine Art gallery.
