KNYSNA NEWS - Bitou seems to be home to the fairest in CX land with seven of the eight winners of this year's Plett-Knysna Beauty Pageant hailing from the town.
On 1 December, the Youth Empowerment Ambassadors hosted the pageant at The Old Rectory Hotel in Plettenberg Bay with Mr South Africa 2017 Habib Noorbhai as the head judge, joined by Sybil Harker and Leela Verity.
This year's Mr Plett Knysna 2018 is Faseegh Everson from Plettenberg Bay, and Cheska Jen Etseban from Knysna was crowned Miss Plett Knysna 2018.
Tarric Davids from Harkerville was the first runner-up in the men's category while Nexus Lurie from Plettenberg Bay was crowned Mr Personality.
In the women's category Laurissa Savage from the Crags was the first runner-up and Jade Littlejohn from Kranshoek received the title of Miss Personality.
There were also best-dressed prizes for guests, a dance competition among attendees, and several performances, including by the H2O Dance Group.
The semifinalists had three rounds on the runway, starting off with each contestant dressing up to fit the theme "a sailor's trip", which produced captains, pirates, Popeye and the Walt Disney character Moana, among others.
During the second round, contestants modelled exquisite masks by La Carla Masks Atelier.
In the final, contestants modelled formal attire. The judges then selected their top eight. In this year's competition, an additional prize was awarded to two contestants who went above and beyond to help their communities.
This was won by Alberto Wilskut from Kranshoek and Zodwa Ntoni from New Horizons.
