PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – By 2026 the Bitou Municipality aims to ensure that 5 000 local residents, all beneficiaries of government homes, receive their title deeds.
An official from the Department of Human Settlements in the Western Cape, Audrey Reed, said there is a backlog in this regard.
Bitou Speaker Claude Terblanche explained that many residents had received the keys to their homes over the years, but had not receive their title deeds.
The drive to get this done, is part of an initiative to create a sense of ownership among beneficiaries.
In an effort to reach this target, the municipality handed over title deeds to several residents of New Horizons in Ward 4 last week.
