KNYSNA NEWS - In just under a month, it will be time once again for the annual commemoration of Tekkie Tax Day, Epilepsy SA's major annual fundraising campaign.
For our locals, the support will naturally be in aid of the local Epilepsy SA Southern Cape Karoo branch in Rio Street.
Fundraising has been a major issue for non-profit organisations during the Covid-19 pandemic due to the limitations on the nature of fundraisers they can hold. Therefore, fundraising campaigns such as Tekkie Tax Day are vital to the Epilepsy SA cause.
"Tekkie Tax is our major fundraiser for the year and we encourage businesses and schools and individuals to buy their Tekkie Tax merchandise in support of our organisation," says the local branch's Ashleigh Smith. Members of the public or businesses can take part in the day by purchasing either stickers, temporary tattoos, funky shoelaces or T-shirts, all of which can be ordered from the Epilepsy SA Southern Cape Karoo branch.
"We challenge businesses to go all out and dress up!" says Smith. "Take a photo and send it to us and you may be the winner of the Tekkie Tax floating trophy for 2021 which Allsound Security has won for wo years in a row!" Members of the public, schools or businesses that would like to take part in the campaign can contact the branch at marketing.sck@epilepsy.org.za. Individual stickers can also be bought from the Epilepsy SA charity shop in Long Street, Autolink, Metlerkamps, or the German Shop in Knysna.
