KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Municipality’s Social Development Department hosted a successful Health Care Open Day at the Hornlee Clinic on Wednesday, 15 May.
Various Non-Profit and Government organisations offered information and service tables.
Services rendered on the day included motivational talks, counselling, HIV tests, blood pressure checks, pap-smears, blood donation and general health checks and advice. The attendees were also entertained with games.
Knysna Deputy Mayor and Ward 6 Councillor, Elrick van Aswegen as well as Ward 11 Councillor Donovan Pofadder attended the event and had their own HIV status and blood pressure tests done. Approximately 150 people attended.
Van Aswegen thanked all the stakeholders. “People in our community hardly do full health checks and counselling is something that is frowned upon. Thank you to the organisations for your valuable service and for bringing these services closer to our people. A special word of thanks to the municipality’s Social Development Department for ensuring the day is a success”.
Thank you to Epilepsy, FAMSA, Knysna Alcohol & Drug Centre, Hospice, SARCS, Life Line Garden Route, Youth For Christ, SANTA and the Western Cape Government for their services and time.
