KNYSNA NEWS - The successful search for and rescue of a kidnapping victim by Knysna police last week ultimately led to the arrest of four suspects as well as the seizure of drugs worth more than R500 000.
According to Western Cape media liaison officer Captain Frederick van Wyk, police received reports of an alleged kidnapping incident on Thursday 9 February.
Acting on the information, police found the kidnapping victim – a foreign national – at a house in Robololo Street. Tik and Mandrax worth R33 860 was seized during this operation.
Further interviews and investigation led to an additional operation that saw even more Mandrax tablets and tik seized.
This time around the haul was worth R502 500. A total of four suspects were arrested on charges of kidnapping, extortion and dealing in drugs.
