PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Cooperation between the Plettenberg Bay community and crime fighters led to the recovery of two stolen bicycles over the weekend.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) was informed that two bicycles had been stolen from a home in Pendeen Crescent.
According to PBCPA operations head Otto Olivier, pictures of the stolen bicycles were circulated across the communities' social media pages and WhatsApp groups.
On Saturday night, the PBCPA received information from a local resident about the location of one of the bicycles.
The PBCPA's rapid response unit, local police and Bitou law enforcement officers responded. "The suspect was not at home, but confirmation was received from the community that the suspect had the bicycle," Olivier said.
Qolweni patrollers recovered one bicycle at 02:40 the following morning and the second a few hours later, just after 05:30.
Olivier praised all involved, including the community member who came forward about the bicycles' location.
