PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) has urged motorists not to leave any valuables in their vehicles following a spate of incidents of theft and attempted theft out of vehicles last week.
PBCPA operations head Otto Olivier said the incidents took place in the Robberg Road and Hanois Crescent area on Thursday 28 March.
"We urge motorists not to leave any valuables in their vehicles," Olivier said. He also urged victims to report the crime to police.
"They need to investigate or at the very least get fingerprints to bring these criminals to book."
Repeat offenders
Olivier said these criminals often operate in particular areas. "So it might be the same suspects who break into a number of cars in one night. Often the suspects are repeat offenders and return to their stomping ground when they are released from jail."
He explained that these criminals' information is on record and they should receive a stiffer sentence when they reoffend. "The only way this will happen is if cases are opened and charges laid."
