SEDGEFIELD NEWS - A Sedgefield resident has thanked a local armed response officer who came to her rescue earlier this month.
"We received a phone call from the elderly resident, asking for assistance when she accidentally locked herself in her bedroom," explains Pieter Meiring, Garden Route branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
"We sent one of our armed response officers to her address to see if we can offer any kind of assistance as the lady was in obvious distress."
When the officer arrived, he found that the lady's brother-in-law was also trying to open the bedroom door. It appears that a key had broken inside the door mechanism. "Our officer used a pair of pliers to open the door and gain access to the bedroom. He calmed the lady down and gave her a glass of water to drink," says Meiring.
She called the office later to thank everyone for coming to her assistance.
"We are always happy to come to the aid of Sedgefield residents whenever they need us," says Meiring.
