It has to explain to a court why it implemented a ban on showing images of destructive protests, while Eyewitness News has learnt it has formally told the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) it would be unfair to enforce its ruling on the issue before next week.
At the same time, four journalists fired for publicly objecting to the ban are going to the Labour Court tomorrow and three others are understood to be consulting their lawyers.
The Helen Suzman Foundation’s Director Francis Antonie says they’re taking the SABC to court this morning because they don’t believe it will obey Icasa.
