PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Western Cape MEC of Human Settlements Tertuis Simmers conducted a sod-turning to officially launch the Qolweni housing project in Plettenberg Bay earlier today, Monday 30 August.
The project has been a source of controversy in recent months and led to several bouts of riots from residents who were unhappy about the slow progress of the project.
As a result, Simmers’ department took over the project from the Bitou Municipality in June this year.
This project, which has a budget allocation of R33,5-million excluding professional fees, was approved in October 2019.
