PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – The Robberg Coastal Corridor Protected Environment (RCCPE) project has scooped the CapeNature Biodiversity Stewardship award for the best stewardship site on the East Landscape.
The award was granted by Dr Razeena Omar, CEO of CapeNature, and received by chairperson of the RCCPE Morkel Pienaar on 24 February.
Pienaar is one of the landowners in the project, which also includes the exclusive Plett RCC Wildside Guided Hiking Trail in support of the corridor conservation along some of the most striking coastline, stretching from Robberg Nature Reserve to Noetzie just outside Knysna.
Said the citation from CapeNature: "The award was for exceptional leadership by expanding its sphere of influence and best practice to landowners outside its boundaries and for contributing towards the livelihoods of individuals from the surrounding community."
