KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Detectives are calling on the public to help them trace a Mozambican national, George Sitole, believed to be in his thirties, who could assist them with the investigation into a murder that occurred on the Uniondale Road in Knysna on Sunday.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies said the murder happened at about 15:15 on Sunday 7 March. Sitole disappeared shortly after the incident and could not be traced by the detectives.
“On the mentioned date, members on patrol responded to the scene at Uniondale Road, Nekkies in Knysna. On their arrival they found the body of a man, who was later identified as Lameck Mpande (35), with a stab wound to the chest. He was declared dead by paramedics on scene,” he said.
Spies said an investigation into the murder revealed that Sitole would be able to assist the police.
“He was last seen at Hlalani in Knysna where both resided at their respective residences. Meantime a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Knysna Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
"The police are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of this man to contact the investigation officer, Sergeant Xolani Petros, on 044 302 6652 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Information will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” he said.
