PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Bitou Junior City Council will be hosting a career fair to expose youngsters to the career opportunities available once they spread their wings beyond the classroom.
The fair will be held at the Piesang Valley Community Hall on Saturday 29 July from 08:00 to 17:30 and is set to showcase 23 different careers and give students the opportunity to interact with experts in the different fields.
There will also be a message from Bitou Mayor Dave Swart, input from a career counsellor and a representative from the South Cape TVET College.
Some of the careers that will be highlighted through talks are that of a chef, professional hairstylist and make-up artist, a professional athlete, rehabilitation therapist and Crossfit coach, a life coach, doctor, lawyer, an accountant, architect, real estate agent, a vet, a nature conservationist, a travel agent, translator, graphic designer and a teacher. Knysna-Plett Herald News Editor Blake Linder will also share some insight into journalism.
Other careers that will also be highlighted include the police service, various entrepreneurs and a professional photographer.
The event will be open to all Bitou high school students and entrance will be free.
