PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Bitou Township Forum (BTF) of Plettenberg Bay has taken it upon themselves to get involved within the process of electing a new Board and Executive Chair for the Plett Tourism Association (PTA).
On 28 August the Bitou Township Forum will be rallying in support of Noksie Kolwapi as their chosen Chair at the Plett Tourism Annual General Meeting.
BTF’s spokesperson Sivu Nkomo says, “ Sisi Noksie is the only leader with the skills and experience to bring about a transformed and inclusive tourism sector in Plett. Currently the elected board does not represent "Township Economies", public money is being spent on advertising wealthy and established businesses.”
Nkomo said that this is the reason why they, as BTF will be picketing to address this issue of zero representation of Township Economies.
He went on to say unemployment in townships is rife. Small businesses are the only way the unemployed can make means to an end.
“Plett residents recently had very violent protests, and one of the main reasons and frustrations expressed by the community was the marginalization of the Township Economies. BTF has been formed to do just that, represent the small scale businesses within Townships,” said Nkomo who extended an invitation to all who share the same sentiments to join them in their fight.
