KNYSNA NEWS - The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras & Arts Festival and Mr Gay World events have announced their partnership with Johannesburg Pride. The intention behind this partnership is to formulate a cohesive working relationship to better serve the LGBT+ME community.
This new relationship ensures the LGBT voice in South Africa is louder, stronger and more visible. The long-term intention is to improve the reach of the community and facilitate better social integration.
The first leg of the partnership will see both teams assisting at the Pink Loerie and Mr Gay World event to be held at the end of May in Knysna. The next step would be a collaboration at the 29th annual Johannesburg Pride and associated events. Johannesburg Pride will be a four-day event this year.
All the details will be launched at the Pink Loerie.
The festival now in its 18th year, will take place from Thursday 24 May to Sunday 27 May 2018, with the crowning moment of Mr Gay World 2018 to be held at the luxurious Villa Castollini in Knysna.
Festival organiser John O’Neil says, “We are looking forward to hosting the festival, which includes dance and music, creating a platform for artists, performers and singers to express themselves without limitations in an accepting and inclusive environment.
"Daily shows will be held at various locations throughout the town. Floats will add colour and glitter to the event while the Mr Gay World 2018 will see young men from all over the world compete for one prestigious title.”
The joint message to the LGBT+ME community is a firm “we hear you”! The focus will be on fostering closer working relationships with the aim of enhancing the development of the nationwide LGBT+ME community.
