KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Photographic Society held its 19th Social & Competition Prize-giving Evening at the Knysna Golf Club on Thursday, 8 February at which the winners were announced, the theme of which was ‘A Walk on the Wildside’.
Members could enter three images that best represent their interpretation of the chosen theme, and the judging is undertaken by external independent judges.

The judges for this competition were Justine Edwards of Justine Edwards Photography and Andrew Aveley a well-known local photographer and videographer.
The categories are broken up into junior and senior photographers.
The juniors being the 1-3 star photographers i.e. those fairly new to photography, and the seniors the 4 star plus being more advanced photographers.
In the junior category the prizes were awarded as follows:
1st Place: André Ruthven - a 3 Star photographer for his image ‘Tussen Rotse’
2nd Place: André Ruthven - 3 Star photographer for his image ‘Rëendruppels’.
3rd Place: Lorraine Cloete - a 1 Star photographer for her image ‘Leave only Footprints’
Commended : Janet Burns 3 Star photographer for her image ‘Klipspringer’
Commended : Roger Scott a 1 Star photographer for his image ‘Tree Squirrels’.
Commended : Alta Laubscher van der Merwe a 3 Star photographer for her image ‘Wild Coast’.
Commended : Paul van der Walt a 2 Star photographer for his image ‘Gateway to the ocean’
Special Mention : Annamarie Vermaak a 3 Star photographer for her image ‘ Not interested’.
In the senior category the prizes were awarded as follows :
1st Place : Anne Hrabar a Master Bronze photographer for her image ‘Ross Glacier Wildside Walk’
2nd Place : Mike Pienaar a 4 star photographer for his image ‘Anything Goes’
3rd Place : Leola Joubert a 4 Star photographer for her image ‘Nature’s Fury.’
Highly Commended : Anne Hrabar a Master Bronze photographer for her image ‘Its Mine’
Highly Commended : Leola Joubert a 4 Star photographer for her image ‘Affection.’
Highly Commended : Claire Scott a 5 Star photographer for her image ‘Grassfire’.
Commended : Sandy Brady a 4 Star photographer for her image ‘Stealth’.
Commended : Carol Phillips a 5 Star photographer for her image ‘Airborne’.

In the non-photographer spouse category:
1st place was awarded to Macky Rixom for her image ‘Namaqua Daisy’.
In the category Best Dressed according to theme, the prize was awarded to : Cathy Birkett and Leola Joubert.
The Knysna Photographic Society would like to thank its sponsors Kloppers expert, Macky Rixom, Chris Daly, Dawid Malan optometrists, Food Lovers Market, The Daily, 9 on Gray, Caffe Mario, All That Jazz, Ile de Pain and Metelerkamps for their generosity which made it possible to award prizes.
Without the sponsors there would be winners but no prizes.

The Knysna Photographic Society holds meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Belvidere Manor Conference Centre, Belvidere commencing at 18:30.
