KNYSNA NEWS - Yep, for one week only per annum, we have mainly molluscs on our minds, and despite the loss of major sponsorships last year, the 36th Knysna Oyster Festival bounced back with suitable aplomb this week as thousands of entrants participated in the cycling events – with thousands more expected for the forest marathon this coming weekend – as well as a host of other well-attended activities for children and adults alike.
A visible never-mind-the-weather attitude prevailed as people thronged to the food, wine and craft gin tastings, murder mysteries, fun runs, guided forest forays and lobbing of boule balls while others are still priming themselves for all sorts of happenings from rapid chess tournaments to tunes from Rocco de Villiers to Robin Auld.
As part of the festivities, Schalke Booysens, JJ Booysens, and Marc Wyllie made up one of the three buggy teams from Warriors on Wheels that towed disabled children behind their bicycles over the 50km route of the 2019 Knysna Cycle Tour road race on Sunday 23 June.
