KNYSNA NEWS - Police have opened an investigation into a fire that claimed the life of an elderly man in Calender Street in Hornlee on Sunday 29 November.
According to Southern Cape Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie the deceased, Richard van Wyngaard, was "in his early 80s" at the time of his death.
"Reports reveal that his wooden house in the backyard of another house burnt down at about 17:30 on Sunday," Pojie said.
He further clarified that the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, and that there is also no foul play suspected.
