Benji, the Shar-pei/bullmastiff male, was introduced to the Gertenbach family's elderly Maltese yesterday at the SPCA facility to see wether the two dogs would be able to share a home.
"Benji has a very intense look when you first see him, but when he runs, he runs right into your arms!" reports the Garden Route SPCA. "He was so gentle with the Maltese and therefore it is a green light to go ahead with Benji's adoption."
Gina, a Ridgeback bitch and Benji were removed from Meyer's care after he 'ran' his dogs on a leash beside his sports car in Brenton-on-Lake on Thursday, June 12. Both dogs suffered injuries. Gina, whom eyewitnesses saw being dragged alongside the car, sustained serious injuries and had to be operated on. She is currently recovering well in the care of a foster family.
"The Gertenbachs are crazy about Benji and very concerned about his well-being. We believe this will be a good match," the Garden Route SPCA reported. For more information, contact the SPCA at 044 878 1990.
