KNYSNA NEWS - A body of a man was found in Joodsekamp in Knysna on Tuesday 14 January during a police search operation.
The discovery comes after Andile Kobi (34) was reported missing. Kobi was last seen in the area on 4 January. Southern Cape Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie confirmed that the body that had been found was indeed that of Kobi.
"A preliminary investigation indicates that he had hanged himself from a tree in the area, one of the branches broke and he fell to the ground, but had already broken his neck," Pojie said.
"An inquest docket was subsequently opened and no foul play is suspected," Pojie said.
This is not the first time a similar discovery was made in the area.
In October last year police also found a decomposed body in the area. In terms of missing people, there is still no sign of 11-year-old Oyisa Mgqwanci or Francis Froechlick (67), who have been missing since 5 and 14 October 2019 respectively.
Both were seen in the same area at the time of their disappearances.
