KNYSNA NEWS - A man was killed just outside Simola in Knysna last week and another person injured when a tipper truck rolled down an embankment and landed on its roof.
The truck belongs to CX Tippers & Diggers.
On Thursday 3 May, according to ER24 spokesperson Inneke van Huyssteen, paramedics arrived on the scene just before 15:30. “They found a male driver with fatal injuries inside the truck and he was declared dead at the scene by the provincial EMS. Another man was found on the scene with minor injuries,” she said.
The injured man was taken to hospital for further medical care, she added.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities were on the scene,” said Van Huyssteen.
Since the incident, the Knysna police have opened an inquest docket following the death of the 47-year-old man. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the man was from Plettenberg Bay.
Spies said the circumstances surrounding the incident forms part of the police investigation. "A postmortem to determine the cause of death will be held later," he said.

She added that the deceased's helper had not been injured though, but had only been treated for shock.
