Tyuko started a community vegetable gardening project with the help of a dedicated Rotarian, Mike Smerdon, and the Knysna Rotary Club.
The inspirational youth ambassador, Tyuko, has received numerous seedlings and compost from the Rotary Club and this gardening project is being funded by Smerdon’s Garden Project Fund.
To date, Tyuko, has encouraged 23 inhabitants of Knysna to dig deep, plant and nurture an array of nutritious vegetables. The enthusiastic gardeners include retired mineworker, Jackson Msedenzi (87), who spends many happy hours working in a flourishing vegetable patch with his wife, Priscilla Msedenzi (73).
Tyuko’s goal is to expand this project to 50 underprivileged residents in the Greater Knysna district. "With the assured continued support from Rotary, here is a wonderful community project that will grow and grow and grow," said Smerdon from the Knysna Rotary Club.
