KNYSNA NEWS - Celebrating its nurses with the theme Nursing Now: A Voice to Lead, Life Knysna Private Hospital proudly acknowledges its nurses who are at the core of the healthcare industry and are often the unsung heroes of the healthcare industry in South Africa.
“Our theme for International Nurses’ Day on 12 May this year focuses on empowering and supporting nurses in meeting 21st Century health challenges and recognising that nurses are at the heart of countries’ efforts to provide health for all. It also aims to highlight the significant role nurses play in healthcare through leading healthcare delivery, championing the delivery of evidence-based practice and remaining the advocates for patients and their families”, says hospital manager Nevil Vlok.
At the heart of patient-centred care
The Life Healthcare Group employ as many as 10 000 nurses across the country and celebrates them for being at the heart of patient-centred care, leading nursing care and using their voice to consistently drive improved healthcare services and systems.
International Nurses’ Day is an opportunity for the Group to thank nurses for taking up the challenge of making ordinary care special through being mindful and thoughtful in the care they deliver. “We also salute our nurses for stepping up and taking the responsibility of being the champions for the delivery of evidence-based practice while influencing, moulding and inspiring future generations of nurses”, adds Vlok.
Recognising the best of the best
Aligned to 12 May is Life Healthcare’s Great 100 Nurses initiative, recognising nurses who have been chosen by their peers for epitomising quality and compassion in their daily work. Launched in 2012, the Great 100 Nurses celebration was established to honour nurses who have made a significant difference to the profession of nursing and in the lives of patients, peers, students and the community.
The initiative identifies and acknowledges the company’s top nurses in the Group on an annual basis, to recognise their outstanding nursing care, as ambassadors for Life Healthcare and the profession at large.
The award gives nurses who join this prestigious group the opportunity to transform nursing care at the bedside and improve patient outcomes.
Local nurse in top 100
Life Knysna Private Hospital is proud to have a number of its nurses nominated for Great 100 Nurses 2018, with registered nurse Hester Crowther being selected at the regional Great 100 Nurses event held this month.
“These awards act as a reminder for staff and the public that our nurses work hard and are committed to each and every one of their patients. Through their commitment, they are transforming the nursing world and providing world-class care”, says Vlok.
