Knysna Tourism served on the 2014 committee and contributed to the marketing efforts to promote this great community event which donates an enormous amount of cash to local charities - second only to the Knysna Oyster Festival.
During a pilot creative think-tank, the Knysna Tourism team, local photographers and copywriters went about their business to create the incredible new billboards and promotional tagline currently displayed at both entrances to Knysna: For two days it’s treasure isle.
This new campaign was adopted after a brainstorming session where married couple Felicity and Phil Mailer of Brenton-on-Sea presented their concepts. It was the winning tagline the moment they opened their presentations. They both worked as a creative team (art direction and copy) during the early years of advertising agencies in South Africa and both have extensive creative portfolios to back their creative minds. They recently moved to Knysna.
After the 'treasure isle' concept was adopted by the Knysna Tourism team, a photographic brief was proposed to local photographers to supply a fitting image for the Leisure Isle Festival campaign.
Various photographers submitted their photos but it was Elle Redman of Elle Photography who supplied the photo that fit the campaign perfectly. It was after one glance at the aerial photo of Leisure Island that the entire creative team were unified in their decision.
The think-tank proved to be a great success for Knysna Tourism in its efforts to promote events and festivals within the area. The team is already in the process of concocting the next range of creative ideas to be displayed in Knysna and within relevant advertising platforms during the coming months.
So, locals and visitors are reminded once again not to miss the 2014 Leisure Isle Festival – which will transform Leisure Isle into a treasure isle for two days. It is the perfect venue to do your festive season shopping and enjoy local art and craft.
