KNYSNA NEWS - It’s no secret that yesterday, 28 March, was an eventful day for Knysna folks.
With the situation tense after one of the accused in the Molosi murder case, Velile Waxa, was released on bail last week, rioting broke out in town yesterday when Waxa was scheduled to appear in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court.
To set the record straight and allay widespread fear and paranoia, this unrest was totally unrelated to another situation where the N2 was closed down due to unrest in Hornlee.
Protesters were occupying the area around the court most of the day, and rumour had it that the door at Pick n Pay had been broken. It was not broken but only cracked, and by the time the KPH went to investigate this as well as the broken windows at MTN in Woodmill Lane, they had already been fixed.
The closing down of the N2 was not politically motivated, but service related.
It has been brought to KPH’s attention that water meters are only the top of the iceberg for this community, who feel themselves to be “outcasts” as they are never a priority.
Different political parties joined hands and closed the N2 regarding poor service delivery, land issues and much more.
