KNYSNA NEWS - A man in his late 20s has been arrested in connection with the murder of his mother three days after her partially decomposed body was found in bushes in Hornlee, four days after she was reported missing.
The victim, the suspect's 59-year-old mother, was reported missing to police in Knysna on Monday 10 January after she had last been seen alive on 7 January.
"A search party led by the investigating officer ensued, resulting in the discovery of the body of the 59-year-old lady the day thereafter, on Tuesday 11 January," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie.
A rigorous search for the suspect in the case, the victim's 28-year-old son, led to his apprehension by members of the community on Friday 14 January.
Pojie confirmed that the suspect was later handed over to police, and that he will make his first court appearance in the Knysna Magistrate's Court today, Monday 17 January, on a charge of murder.
