KNYSNA NEWS - Fourteen students from the Sidwell Roman School of Ballet Knysna attended the Cape Town Ballet Eisteddfod last week at the Civic Centre in Sea Point.
Ranging from six to 20 years old, the students presented two quartets, one duet and 30 solos. Two were awarded Merit (60-69%), 13 were awarded Honours (70-84%) and 18 were awarded Diploma (85%-100%).
All the Diploma students went into the finals that took place over Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 May, where a total of 13 gold medals were awarded.
The instructors, Sidwell Roman and Courtney-Drew Meyer, are proud of their pupils for their results, dedication, commitment and eagerness.
This was also the first year the ballet studio took four ballerinos (male ballet dancers) to a competition.Four of the studio's dancers who took part. Back: Olivia Maycock and Emmah Geldenhuys. Front: Zélie de Villiers and Skye Warner.
