KNYSNA NEWS & VIDEO - Knysna is playing host to two local by-elections today, Wednesday 11 November, as residents of Wards 9 and 10 shuffle out to voting stations to make their mark.
Voter turnout has slowly been increasing as the morning goes on, with the stations hives of activity as residents seek to elect their next ward councillors.
In Ward 9, the seat is being closely contested between independent candidate and former Knysna mayor Mark Willemse, the DA's Sharon Sabbagh and EFF candidate, Japhta Meyer.
Ward 10 has a few more candidates however, and is being hotly contested by the DA's Peter Bester, KIM's Susan Campbell, FF Plus' Jackie du Toit, and the EFF's Magdalena Brouwers.
In Ward 10, voters can vote either at the Knysna Town Hall or the Knysna Bowling Club. While in Ward 9, the voting stations available are at the Vineyard Christian Church, Cearn Hall on Leisure Isle, and at Brackenhill New Born Ministries.
You can double check at which voting station you're registered by visiting the IEC's website.
Voters have until 21:00 this evening to cast their vote.
