KNYSNA NEWS - The King of the Hill portion of the 2023 Simola Hillclimb is up and running, with the scrutineering and parading of the cars taking place yesterday, Friday 5 May.
While the Classic Car Friday competitors were battling it out throughout the day yesterday, King of the Hill drivers were putting on their Sunday best on Friday in Hedge Street.
Event stewards scrutineered the vehicles while the public could ogle and feast their eyes upon the magnificent machines that will take on the 1,4km-long Simola Hill this weekend.
By the time it came for the parade at the end of the day, nothing could dampen the spirits or hold back the public’s excitement, not even an overturned truck at the Waterfront Drive/N2 turn-off on the Western side of town. Instead, it only ramped up the excitement, with WRC champion Petter Solberg and former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo the crown jewels of the parade.
