Jones' journey with her first poetry book began last year when she sent a collection of her poems to the Department of Arts and Culture in Green Acres, Gqeberha. Thereafter Kim was connected with Branco Lee Casper who helped her on her publishing journey.
Prior to this Jones had been an avid writer since 2010, having started writing at the local What's New in Plettenberg Bay which was published weekly. Therein she would have her poems published weekly and audiences grew fond of her voice.
"I have always wanted to write, but it was just a hobby at first. My poems are about the truth, my life and my experience and about what happens in my community.
"I wanted to share these experiences with other people because it could very well help someone going through the same things," said Jones.
Toevlug na Donkerte se Lig is now available to purchase at Village Bookshop.
