PLETTENBERG BAY NEWSFLASH - The killers of a well-loved former Bitou municipal law enforcement member was sentenced in the Knysna Regional Court on Friday, November 10, 2017.
The 21-year-old Franklin de Waal was stabbed to death and his body found by family members in Geelhout Street just a few metres from his home on February 14, last year.
He had also been robbed of his cell phone.
The now convicted murderers 19-year-old Dillon Toll and a 16-year-old youngster, who cannot be named as he is a minor – were arrested on 27 March and 13 April last year respectively.
They applied for bail in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court, but bail was denied.
Toll was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
The teenager was remanded to a youth facility until the age of 21.
