PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay residents are set to commemorate the June 2017 fires on Thursday 7 June by gathering on the town’s Central Beach to light a candle and reflect on the year that has been.
Residents have been asked to gather at about 16:00 and share a moment of silence to remember those affected by the fire and those who played a role in fighting it.
Thereafter there will be a short programme of about half an hour during which there will be a brief address from the mayoral office and associated fire management units. Members of the Bitou fire department will close the event with a prayer.
“It is about our community, our experiences, memories, losses, gains, actions and lessons. Let’s come together as we did a year ago,” Steve Ritky from the Plett South fire management unit said.
