PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - For the third time in as many weeks, a fire ravaged the community of Bossiesgif last Wednesday, 11 May.
The fire broke out just before 13:00, completely destroying five homes and causing major damage to three more.
More than 120 Bitou locals were left destitute after a devastating fire ravaged the same community on Tuesday 3 May and a day earlier, the homes of more than 20 families were destroyed by fire.
According to Bitou municipal spokesperson Andile Namntu, the cause of the latest fire has not yet been confirmed.
"Information from the Bitou disaster management section is that about five dwellings burnt down completely.
Approximately three others were badly affected," he said. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
The Bitou Municipality launched a fire safety campaign last week following the rise in fires within local informal settlements in recent weeks.
