KNYSNA NEWS - Applications for informal trading permits at many departments of the Knysna Municipality can now be done online through the Collaborator portal.
In a municipal press release, Acting Municipal Manager Johannes Jonkers said they have implemented online applications for numerous services, including Building Control and Environmental Management. "Applicants can now apply or renew permits at a time and place suitable for them.
"The system allows the applicant to fill in an application form, upload statutory documents and track submitted applications.
"If any additional information is required, the applicant will be contacted via email.
"It is simple, straightforward with minimum effort."
Interested parties can access the WC Collaborator portal (https://westerncape.collaboratoronline.com/default.aspx), register as a user, create a partner profile and continue the application process.
Jonkers said the online application system also helps to facilitate a quicker and more responsive application service. "Once the municipality has all the information at hand, the turnaround time on applications is generally much faster. Easy online application processes are conducive to business growth and local economic development, which is essential for our town to prosper.
"If applicants do not have access to the internet they are welcome to visit the local libraries or the LoveLife Centre in Concordia for free access to the internet."
For queries on the system, applicants or users may contact the chief clerk for business support and development, Sherylene Boonzaaier, on 044 302 6360 (direct) or email spieterse@knysna.gov.za.
