KNYSNA NEWS - This coming Saturday 1 July, Issaquena Heights Boutique Hotel will be hosting a community awareness kick-off event as part of the Knysna Oyster Festival.
The event is aimed at children aged 4 to 17 years and will include literacy and numeracy activities for the little ones.
A community awareness forum will be organised for youth aged 10 to 17 years and their parents.
The event will also feature a number of other fun-filled activities and refreshments.
The hotel, owned by American Otis Rounds, has a huge focus on helping the broader community. Rounds, a native of Issaquena County in Mississippi, has been involved in the Committee for South African Solidarity (Cosas) and spearheaded an educational drive to provide books and school supplies to Rheenendal Primary School.
He aims to continue his work in Knysna to dispel hunger and the neglect of the elderly, and to steer youth towards meaningful citizenship as adults.
