Tshazibana's Joyful Noise Crèche was established four years ago and sees to the needs of about 35 children in the area whilst their parents are at work during the day.
She started the crèche in her back-garden with only one room, which was divided into two sections, one for the babies and the other for the three- to six-year-old children.
As the attendance of children grew since the establishment of the crèche, the existing building became much too small and an extension was necessary.
"This became a reality with the wonderful donation of materials from Geelhout Timbers, PennyPinchers, e'Pap, and Sunsport who supplied and laid artificial grass," said Helga Raynor, e'Pap volunteer.
She explained, "Not only was the building extended, but the crèche now has internal walls, an artificial grass outdoor play area and sufficient tables and chairs to enable each child to sit down and work."
The project to improve the facilities at the crèche was initiated by Raynor, who ensures that the crèche receives its free supply of e'Pap each week. e'Pap is a nutritional, instant porridge which is supplied to crèches and schools in the Greater Knysna area.
Raynor said, "Oupad is one of the most disadvantaged areas of Knysna and the challenge of installing a flushing toilet at the crèche remains." According to Raynor, until this has been achieved the crèche will not be able to register with the relevant authorities and NGOs, and the children and teachers will be deprived of resources so essential for the optimal development of these young children in the Knysna community.
In conclusion, Raynor said, "Thanks to the wonderful business community, we have been able to extend and improve the lives of the little ones that Joyful Noise takes care of each day."

The children and teachers of Joyful Noise Crèche are thrilled about their articifial lawn and the expansion of their crèche building. Their dream was recently realised thanks to the help of e'Pap, Geelhout Timbers, PennyPinchers, and Sunsport.
